If it's a huge initial public offering, Joseph Kaufman is likely on the deal.
This year, he advised HCA Holdings Inc. on its $4.35 billion initial public offering, one of the largest private equity-financed IPOs in U.S. history. He recently advised Nielsen Holdings in its $1.89 billion IPO and Dollar General Corp., Virgin Mobile USA Inc. and other big companies in IPOs.
He's a star player in debt securities matters, advising Del Monte Foods Co., Aramark Corp., Accellent Inc. and many more. He represented Wyeth Pharmaceuticals Inc. in Pfizer Inc.'s acquisition of the company, a deal that involved more than $12 billion in notes and convertible debentures.
The deals are vast, the players many and keeping everyone "rowing the same direction" is key, Kaufman said. "Sometimes complexity is not your friend," he said.
