Administrators at Louisiana College, a school of 1,500 students in Pineville, La., hadn’t planned to announce the project until early September, but word leaked out during a Shreveport City Council meeting on Monday night. The college first began talking three years ago about opening a law school. On Tuesday, Louisiana College President Joe Aguillard said the school spent the time raising money, scouting locations and beginning the American Bar Association accreditation process.

“Our extensive feasibility study confirms that Northwest Louisiana is the perfect location for this new institution, and we are grateful to the representatives and officials of the Shreveport area who have worked hard to ensure that we locate there,” Aguillard said.
