South Carolina and the state of Washington have also both moved to intervene in the Yucca Mountain proceedings before the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The administration on Wednesday filed papers with the commission to withdraw its license application.

Aiken County, S.C., and three Washington state residents have also filed separate petitions for review in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, a writ of mandamus and motions to intervene in the NRC proceedings.
