NEW ARRIVALS

Thompson & Knight (Dallas): Thiago Maia, Jorge H. Mattar, Marcela de Mello Pedreiro and Felipe de Abreu Sampaio join the firm's global corporate and securities practice as associates in the affiliated office, Tauil & Chequer in São Paulo, Brazil. Maia will focus on corporate and securities transactions. He earned his Bachelor of Law degree from Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro in 2002 and an LL.M in business law from Northwestern University School of Law in 2008. Mattar will focus on general corporate law, agribusiness, alternative energy, real estate, environmental law and mergers and acquisitions. He earned his Bachelor of Law degree from Catholic University of São Paulo in 2000. Pedreiro will focus on corporate and finance transactions, including capital markets, structured finance and mergers and acquisitions. She earned her Bachelor of Law degree from Faculdade de Direito do Largo de São Francisco at the University of São Paulo in 1998. Sampaio will focus on corporate and real estate transactions, with a particular emphasis on the agribusiness and alternative energy industries. He earned his Bachelor of Law degree from Catholic University of São Paulo in 2006.

NEW ASSOCIATES

Tripp Scott (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.): Ian J. Lis and B. George Walker join the firm as associates in the Ft. Lauderdale office, where they both previously served as summer associates. Lis joins the finance, corporate transactions, commercial real estate and creditors' rights and bankruptcy areas. He earned his J.D. from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2009. Walker joins the commercial litigation and creditors' rights and bankruptcy areas. He earned his J.D. from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center in 2009.
