The National Law Journal

December 15, 2008

The recent announcement of criminal charges filed against Marc Dreier reverberated across the country where 100 lawyers and other professionals at four law firms and consulting companies in Los Angeles have various ties to him. On Monday, Dreier, founder and managing partner of Dreier LLP, a law firm in New York, was charged with one count of securities fraud and one count of wire fraud, both of which involve a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. Federal prosecutors in New York claim Dreier was the mastermind behind a more than $100 million investment fraud involving at least three hedge funds.
