Human rights law authority to head Buffalo Law School

Makau W. Mutua, a noted authority on human rights law, has been named dean of the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School. Mutua joined the law school's faculty and assumed co-directorship of the Buffalo Human Rights Center in 1996. He is currently director of the center, which fosters coursework, research and scholarship in human rights among faculty and students. Mutua previously was associate director of the Human Rights Program at Harvard Law School and served as director of the Africa Project at the Lawyers Committee for Human Rights.
