In spring 2010, the New Jersey Law Journal conducted a survey to evaluate subscribers' readership, professional activities, demographics, and purchases.
Here is an executive summary of the responses that are relevant to law firm advertising.
Subscriber Practice Areas
More than 9% of our subscribers are corporate counsel or otherwise involved in business or industry. (This figure does not include the added bonus recipients of most Law Journal supplements.)
The majority of Law Journal subscribers are litigators (70%) with 29% reporting general practice. These lawyers often have need to refer specialized matters outside the office.
Referral Business
When asked how many cases, if any, the subscriber had referred to other lawyers during the preceding 12 months, 72% responded that they have retained the services of other law firms/outside counsel between 1-19 times.
Advertising Readership
Nearly two-thirds (65.7%) of the New Jersey Law Journal's subscribers have followed-up on Law Journal advertisements by inquiring of the advertiser, talking to colleagues about the advertiser, making a purchase or otherwise using the advertising content of the Law Journal.PRACTICE AREA SPECIFIC SUPPLEMENTS
