Paulette Brown Honored by Black Women Lawyers


 

Paulette Brown, shown, partner and chief diversity officer at Edwards Wildman Palmer in Madison, received the Hon. Renee Jones Weeks Past Presidents Award of Excellence, from the Association of Black Women Lawyers of New Jersey, on April 27 at the Pines Manor in Edison. Brown was honored for her work toward equality for minorities and women. She handles labor and employment matters as well as commercial litigation and is second vice chairwoman of the State Bar's Labor and Employment Section.

Cofsky Installed as Adoption Attorneys President


 

Donald Cofsky, a partner at Cofsky & Zeidman in Haddonfield, was installed as the 24th president of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys on April 27 in San Diego. Cofsky's practice includes adoption and assisted-reproduction law.

Essex Superior Court Judge Paul Vichness Retires


 

A retirement party for Superior Court Judge Paul Vichness, shown, was held at the Newark Club on April 15. Vichness, shown, who served on the Essex County bench for 18 years, will handle mediations at Mandelbaum Salsburg in West Orange.

Bergen Bar Foundation Sponsors Mock Trial

The Bergen County Bar Foundation held its annual Law Day Mock Trial before Judge Bonnie Mizdol on May 1 at the Bergen County Justice Center in Hackensack. The foundation used a grant from the New Jersey State Bar Foundation to invite students from Hackensack, Teaneck and Rutherford high schools as well as the Torah Academy in Teaneck. Volunteers from the foundation performed the roles of attorneys, parties and witnesses, and students sat as jurors.

Matrimonial Lawyers Award Scholarships

The New Jersey chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers presented its annual scholarship awards, to law school graduates who excelled in family law, on Feb. 19 at Steakhouse 85 in New Brunswick.
