Judicial Profile: Justice Peter Verniero

Peter Verniero's stormy road to the Supreme Court wouldn't be envied by anyone sane. The State Bar Association labeled him unqualified to serve, and he was roundhoused by other detractors in his Senate confirmation hearing. But on the theory that what doesn't kill us makes us stronger, Verniero has emerged from the political fire to become a strong contributor to the Court and its most prolific dissenter.
