New Jersey lawmakers on Thursday moved a step closer to passing the first major overhaul of Megan’s Law in the 19 years since it was first enacted.
The Assembly Appropriations Committee, in a unanimous vote, endorsed S-2636, which would stiffen certain aspects of the community notification and make paroled sex offenders contribute to the cost of running their monitoring programs.
