Morrison & Foerster Adds Hong Kong Private Equity Partner
The Asian Lawyer
Morrison & Foerster has added a private equity partner to its Hong Kong office.
Marcia Ellis was most recently a partner in the Hong Kong office of Ropes & Gray. She had previously been a partner at Morrison & Foerster from 2007 to 2008, when she left to become Asia chief legal officer at investment company D. E. Shaw Group. She moved to Ropes & Gray in 2011.
Ellis' practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions and leveraged transactions. Last year, she was part of the Ropes & Gray team that advised private equity outfit Bain Capital Partners on its $1 billion investment in Indian business process management company Genpact Ltd.
Arriving in Hong Kong in 1996, Ellis started as an associate with Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison and rose to counsel before moving to Morrison & Foerster.
Morrison & Foerster currently has 35 lawyers working in Hong Kong, including 11 partners. The San Francisco-based firm employs more than 1,000 lawyers in 16 offices worldwide.
