Morrison & Foerster Adds Tokyo Partner
The Asian Lawyer
Morrison & Foerster has added a partner to its Tokyo office.
Kenji Taneda was previously with the Tokyo office of Sullivan & Cromwell, where he was a special counsel specializing in capital market transactions.
He has represented both issuers and underwriters on debt and equity offerings. Last August, Taneda was part of a Sullivan & Cromwell team advising Japan Airlines Co. on its $8.5 billion initial public offering on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Earlier last year, Taneda also helped advise Osaka-based drug manufacturer Takeda Pharmaceutical Co. on a $3 billion debt offering on the Singapore Exchange, the largest-ever issue of U.S. dollar-denominated bonds by a Japanese company.
Kenneth Siegel, Tokyo managing partner for Morrison & Foerster, said in a statement that his firm has worked across the table from Taneda on several deals previously. "He is one of the most accomplished young lawyers in Tokyo," said Siegel. "His extensive capital markets experience will further strengthen our practice in this key area and enhance our ability to provide our clients here and around the world with the highest levels of service."
Morrison & Foerster has 125 lawyers in its Tokyo office, one of the largest among international firms in Japan.
