St. Louis, Mo.-based KnowledgeLake Inc., a developer of SharePoint enterprise content management software, has announced the release of KnowledgeLake Capture for the iPhone and iPod. The app can capture documents, images, and data from Apple Inc. iPhones, iPods, and iPads and send them directly to Microsoft SharePoint as image files with metadata.
With the mobile app, users can export iPhone photos and documents from native apps, tag the content with searchable metadata, and connect to SharePoint 2010 to export the content.
When Capture is combined with the KnowledgeLake Imaging product, mobile content in SharePoint can be indexed and searched, viewed, routed, annotated, and tagged with an organization's taxonomy. The Imaging product features, among other things, support for SharePoint Search and FAST Search in SharePoint sites; views document thumbnails in search results; supports document check-in and check-out; and scans document images with optical character recognition software.
The app is available as a free download in the Apple App Store and requires an iPhone 4 and up with iOS 6 or later plus access to a SharePoint 2010 site with Forms or Windows-based authentication. Additional licensing is required for KnowledgeLake Imaging.
