Charleston, S.C.-based Bench & Bar LLC announced Thursday the release of JuryPad, an app for Apple Inc.'s iPad and iPad mini, designed to assist trial attorneys during voir dire and build a searchable database of prospective jurors.

JuryPad tracks both parties peremptory challenges and challenges for cause (See Figure 1), warning attorneys when they're down to their last peremptory strike. Attorneys can view jury demographics by race, age, and gender and rate potential jurors. Users can add or edit juror information, take notes, and map jurors' addresses. JuryPad can sort jurors by number, name, or rating, search for jurors using terms such as name, street, address, marital status, employer, and filter jurors by challenging party in a Batson motion. Attorneys can also evaluate and select primary and alternate jurors using a jury list or juror seating chart.

JuryPad can be used in any jurisdiction and allows users to email jury data as a text file or as a database to other JuryPad users. The app is available for download in the iTunes App Store.

For more information, see the Bench & Bar's web page on JuryPad features.
