The Georgetown Law Advanced E-Discovery Institute, held December 6 and 7 in McLean, Va., was an excellent, well-attended event, observed Howard Reissner, CEO at Planet Data Solutions Inc., which boldly addressed the numerous issues that have surfaced this past year around the concepts of technology-assisted review (TAR) and computer-assisted review (CAR), and predictive coding — all variants of recent lurching moves in the legal industry to move towards more efficient ways to search and review data and are, by far the topic du jour. At the conclusion of the conference, it was clear to Reissner that the legal profession is in the very early stages of using advanced technology on a broad basis to increase the efficiency of e-discovery.
