Index Engines Releases Octane Catalog EngineLaw Technology News 02-25-2013 Data indexing specialist and information management software provider Index Engines Inc. has released Octane Catalog Engine to aid in the e-discovery of tapes stored in legacy backup systems and the migration to a new backup software platform, the Holmdel, N.J.-based company announced. The Octane Catalog Engine can ingest legacy catalogs from backup software and administer and maintain backups without the need for the original software. Octane can search the catalog for specific files and email databases stored on backup tapes, locate the tape and backup set for the necessary files, and process the backup set. File and email contents can then be extracted from the tape, indexed, and searched on demand. Users can also use the engine to manage the catalog for a retired backup software and maintain access to legacy tapes while converting to a new platform. Octane Catalog currently supports IBM's Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) and Symantec's NetBackup. Pricing starts at $25,000, which includes the ability to process up to 2,500 backup tapes.
