Recent Hires in the Legal Technology Industry

This fall, there's been quite a bit of movement in legal technology executive suites, including new hires at Microsystems, Litéra Corp., CMS Intelliteach, DocAuto Inc., Navigant Consulting Inc., Mitratech Holdings Inc., Complete Discovery Source Inc., and Workshare, Inc. Here's a quick update:
Microsystems. After Sherry Kappel's defection to Litéra from Microsystems, where she served as senior vice president and chief innovation officer, the Downers Grove, Ill.-based Microsystems made a few moves of its own last quarter.
Microsystems, which offers document production software, has named Toby Adamson vice president of product management. She focuses her efforts on advancing Microsystems products and services in document production, content quality, and risk management. She recently led product management and user experience efforts for the company's Eagle Eye The Agreement Checker. Adamson's experience in the technology industry includes stints at LexisNexis InterAction and Interface Software.
Matt Miller is now a principal consultant at Microsystems. He has worked with the company since 2008, as an analyst and consultant, providing product installation and implementation support, In his new position, Miller helps clients effectively use Microsoft Office and Microsystems products.
Niketa Jhaveri joins the company as director of user experience design. She previously served as director of user experience and design at MSDSonline and as senior information architect and user interface designer at G2 Switch Works Corp.
Mark Johnson is now a business analyst. His tasks include furthering product development and improve quality assurance. Johnson brings 10 years' experience in analysis, design, and software development.
Microsystems also announced that it is also entering into consulting agreements with David Dahl, former CTO at Total Attorneys, and Ron Friedmann, a lawyer and consultant with Fireman & Company. Both will work closely with Microsystems' management team, the company said.
Litéra has also hired Rich Glikin as senior sales executive for the northeastern U.S. Glikin previously served as senior account executive at OpenText Corp. and legal sales manager at Metastorm Inc., acquired by OpenText in 2011. Additional work in the content managment sphere includes account executive positions at Interwoven and Vignette, the latter also acquired by OpenText.
CMS Intelliteach, an Atlanta-based provider of law firm help desk outsourcing, has added Kelly Solomon as director of service desk operations. In her new role, Solomon leads employees' technical education, and oversees help desk and client support. Solomon's previously worked as a legal technology consultant to the Coca-Cola Company's corporate legal department, and held IT and support roles at Seyfarth Shaw and Rogers & Hardin.
DocAuto, also based in Atlanta, offers software and services for Autonomy iManage WorkSite. It began its fourth quarter with two new hires David Pilling as vice president of operations and strategy and Eileen Campbell as senior solutions consultant. Pilling was previously the director of applications and development at eSentio Technologies and clocked seven years as director of technology at Jenner and Block. Pilling brings a background in life-cycle content management, application development, knowledge management, technology planning, business process management, workflow improvement, and project management.
Campbell has worked as a consultant in document management since 1990. Past employers include iEnvision Technology, Aderant, and eSentio Technologies (where she worked with Pilling). She has implemented, upgraded, and migrated document management systems and has served as a system engineer and consultant to organizations using OpenText Hummingbird, Autonomy iManage, and Aderant StarLaw products.
Navigant: Chicago-based Navigant, a global consulting firm whose services include electronic discovery, announced that Lawrence Briggi joins the company as a director in its disputes and investigations practice. In his new role, Briggi helps clients with e-discovery, document review, process improvement, and validation. Prior to Navigant, Briggi was managing director in FTI Consulting and has managed litigation support and IT in five law firms including Patterson, Belknap, Webb & Tyler; and Cravath, Swaine & Moore. He has experience in managing large SEC investigations, data reduction projects, analysis of new e-discovery data sources, search term defensibility, and predictive coding.
Mitratech: Mitratech, best known for its legal department collaboration software TeamConnect, has appointed Jason Parkman as its new COO, to oversee company sales, client support, and global professional services. Parkman comes to Mitratech, which is based in Austin, from Thomson Reuters Legal where he was senior vice president of large law firm business and directed sales, account management, strategic and product marketing, as well as technical services and operations. Parkman has also led operations for Hubbard One, where he was vice president and general manager.
Complete Discovery Source (aka CDS Legal), an e-discovery software and services provider headquartered in New York, has tapped attorney Nicole Gable to head its Chicago and Midwest area service team. She now serves CDS Legal's client base in Chicago. Gable comes to CDS Legal from New-York based DeltaForce Legal where she was director of legal recruiting and business development. Gable has also practiced law in the litigation department at Seyfarth Shaw in Chicago.
Workshare: San Francisco-based Workshare, a document collaboration software provider, has named Michael Ollitervo-Murphy as its chief customer officer working in the company's London office. In his new role, Ollitervo-Murphy oversees, among other things, customer experience and service design. He was most recently customer experience consultant at startup SkyDox Ltd., which acquired Workshare in September. Ollitervo-Murphy has also served as group head of customer service for Virgin Management, parent company of the Virgin Group.
