TriCerat Unveils Windows Clipboard Protector
Law Technology News
Columbia, Md.-based software management company triCerat has released a beta version of its new Cliptite software. Cliptite encrypts content copied to Windows Clipboard, an oftentimes overlooked point of insecurity when it comes to data loss. Windows Clipboard is used to copy and paste items throughout Microsoft Office, as well as the Windows operating system, and can be used between computer in remote desktop operations.
Cliptite lets you securely copy and paste data using Windows Clipboard by first checking any data before it is actually copied onto the clipboard and then encrypting that data using a secure 128-bit key. Administrators can set up Windows Clipboard funtionality across multiple Citrix ICA and RDP sessions. The beta product supports Windows 7, Vista, and XP and Windows Server 2008 R2, 2008, and 2003.
Authorized users will be able to use the data on Windows Clipboard without concern for the underlying encryption. However, anyone trying to intercept Windows Clipboard data without the proper credentials will end up with scrambled, useless data.
The beta version is free and may be downloaded here. Once the product goes out of beta, it will be priced on a per-server basis, according to the company.
