InterLegis, a provider, of litigation electronic discovery technology and services, recently announced its flagship product, Discovery360 Enterprise, is now available for Macintosh operating systems. The processing engine and database of the software can also be installed on Linux machines, the company added.

ABBYY, a Milpitas, Calif.-based provider of document recognition, data capture, and optical character recognition software and services, announced last week the release of FineReader Touch, an OCR app designed for the Windows 8 touch-centric user interface. FineReader Touch provides text recognition and document conversion via ABBYY FineReader Online, a cloud-based service that aims to give users the ability to convert image scans of documents into searchable file formats such as Microsoft Word.

LexisNexis parent company Reed Elsevier on November 1 sold its court filing and document exchange service, File & Serve, to the owners of rival CaseFileXpress, officials of both companies confirmed. CaseFileXpress formed in 2002 and was recently sold from investors to its executives while the company negotiated the purchase with Lexis.

Improvements to the latest iteration of DocsCorp's pdfDocs product include new capabilities to manually and automatically create PDF and PDF/A email attachments and perform optical character recognition.

Lateral Data, a subsidiary of Xerox Litigation Services, has announced the upgrade of its Viewpoint e-discovery platform to version 5.4. Viewpoint is a single e-discovery platform, which integrates collection, culling, processing, early case assessment, analytics, review, and production into one offering. Upgrades include identifying duplicate text in email files and footers.

Litéra Corp. began shipping new software, called Secure File Transfer, which helps move large computer files among their clients and colleagues. Secure File Transfer is based on a technology from London-based GCrypt Ltd., which sells a simpler version of the software called SSLPost. Litéra, in McLeansville, N.C., licensed SSLPost and then added features for the legal market.

Earlier this month, San Jose, Calif.-based data management company Quantum Corp. announced that two of its Scalar tape automation systems will be updated to LTO-6 technology. The company says that its enterprise Scalar i6000 and its midrange Scalar i500 tape libraries now can be ordered with LTO-6 technology and that it will start shipping these new models in late November.
