The Falls Church, Va., office of Reed Smith has named a new managing partner.
Carol Honigberg takes over the new role from Karen Fagelson, who served as managing partner for the past eight years.
In an interview, Honigberg said that she would continue her commercial real estate and business transaction practice while also leading the office. Additionally, Honigberg said that she would seek to grow the office. The Falls Church office had 44 attorneys at the end of 2011, according to the Legal Times survey.
"We've got a great core group of lawyers here in a pretty broad spectrum of practice areas," Honigberg said. "I think we will be looking to grow strategically and add to our strengths and fill holes where we have them. We will definitely be actively involved in some lateral recruiting and looking to further enhance the office."
And though she said it was premature to say exactly which practices might grow, Honigberg pointed to the overall goals of the firm. "From a firmwide perspective, we are really focused on those in the energy and natural resources area," she said. Honigberg also mentioned the possibility of bolstering the financial institutions practice on either the litigation or transaction side. "There are lots of possibilities," she said.
