Jones Day has hired two partners for its Singapore office.

Matthew Skinner and Darren Murphy were formerly partners in the Singapore office of Australian firm Allens, where Skinner was head of the Southeast Asia disputes resolution practice. Murphy is a corporate partner specializing in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and projects in the energy and resources sector.

Skinner started his legal career at Clyde & Co. in London in 1998. He previously also practiced at Herbert Smith before joining Allens' Sydney office in 2003, becoming a partner in 2006. He relocated to the firm's Singapore office in 2010.

In July, Clyde & Co. announced that Skinner was joining its Singapore office as part of a group of laterals from Allens. According to a source at Clyde & Co., Skinner declined the firm's offer after the announcement was issued. A Jones Day spokesperson declined to comment.

Murphy relocated to Allens' Singapore office in 2010 from the firm's Perth office. Earlier in his career, he worked in-house for Kansas City-based power company Aquila Inc., which was acquired by Great Plains Energy Inc. in 2008.

With the new additions, Jones Day has 27 lawyers in its Singapore office and more than 2,400 lawyers worldwide.
