Pillsbury Adds DLA Piper Partner to China Practice

The Asian Lawyer

05-03-2012

Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman has recruited a New York partner from DLA Piper for its Asia finance practice.

Henry Liu will primarily work in Pillsbury's New York office but will also spend a significant amount of time in the firm's Shanghai office. He will head the financial institutions infrastructure team for Greater China in Asia. Qualified in both the U.S. and China, Liu advises on cross-border financing transactions and regulatory matters involving China.

Pillsbury is Liu's third firm in three years. He joined DLA Piper as a partner in 2010. Prior to that, he was Shanghai head and China practice managing partner for Nixon Peabody. He joined Nixon Peabody in 2009 from now-defunct Heller Ehrman, where he also led the China practice.

In addition to his law firm experience, Liu was general counsel and director general at the China Securities Regulatory Commission from 1995 to 2000.
