Another group has peeled off the Dreier firm's Santa Monica, Calif.-based affiliate, Dreier Stein Kahan Browne Woods George.

Entertainment litigators Michael Plonsker, Yakub Hazzard and Mark Passin have announced they will be joining Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi as partners. Making the move with them will be associates Lauren Sudar, Rori Starr Silver and Jeanine Percival Wright, as well as some staff. They start Monday.

The group will help launch an entertainment and media practice at Robins Kaplan, with Plonsker and Hazzard serving as co-chairs.

Plonsker said that his team was looking for a national firm with litigation capability. He said that Robins Kaplan is "a fantastic trial firm" known for representing the state of Minnesota in tobacco litigation that settled for billions of dollars, and for other high-profile toxic tort and securities litigation work.

Plonsker, who represents actors, writers, directors, producers and others in the film, television, and music industries, has handled matters for clients including Britney Spears, Jodie Foster, Billy Bob Thornton and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Hazzard focuses on the music industry and intellectual property matters.

Robins Kaplan has more than 250 lawyers located in Atlanta, Boston, Los Angeles, Minneapolis and Naples, Fla., according to a firm press release.

Earlier this month, Dreier Stein partners Lawrence Stein and Robert Kahan had announced their moves to separate firms , and the business litigation piece of the practice returned to being its own boutique, Browne Woods George.
