During the past year, the Texas Supreme Court has issued few opinions that affect plaintiffs attorneys. In light of the perception that the current court is a bit defense-oriented, this is probably welcome news for the plaintiffs bar, says attorney Chad Ruback. But the state Supreme Court did make law in one area of great interest to plaintiffs lawyers: intentional infliction of emotional distress. Not surprisingly, the new law as articulated by the court favors defendants.
