Television superstar Oprah Winfrey and Lerato Nomvuyo Mzamane, former headmistress of the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls, reached an agreement Tuesday, avoiding a trial in a defamation suit. Mzamane sued Winfrey, Harpo Productions and Harpo Inc., alleging Mzamane was defamed by statements Winfrey made after reports surfaced in October 2007 about alleged sexual abuse at the school. Attorneys for Winfrey and Mzamane said the two parties met "woman to woman without their lawyers" and resolved the dispute peacefully.
