Claiming to be the victim of political persecution, former Pennsylvania Sen. Vincent Fumo told the jury in his federal corruption trial that the Justice Department's decision to investigate him was motivated by election-year politics and President George W. Bush's desperation to win Pennsylvania in 2004. "I was a target because I was the most prominent Democrat in Pennsylvania. I raised the most money in the nation," Fumo testified on Tuesday.
