In January, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer became the first global law firm to release a corporate social responsibility report. CSR brings together a business' environmental policy, its treatment of employees, its pro bono work and its actions toward suppliers and clients. Freshfields is not alone: Four of the five Magic Circle firms have publicly announced a commitment to CSR. The firms say they're responding to client demand, but sticking to the new policies may complicate firm-client relations.
