More Judges Packing Pistols in Courtrooms

Despite increased security at courthouses following shootings in Chicago and Atlanta, many judges are carrying their own guns for protection. In several states, incidences of violence in the past year have prompted new laws or solidified rules allowing judges to bring guns into courtrooms. "Guns are like lawyers: Better to have one and not need it than need one and not have it," said one Kansas lawmaker who authored a bill permitting judges to carry concealed firearms in the courtroom.
