Democrats, as widely expected, wrested control of the House of Representatives, after 12 years of Republican rule, in elections across the country Tuesday, setting the stage for a series of House investigations of the Bush administration. And, in somewhat of a surprise, it appears Democrats also carried the Senate. Assuming it holds, that victory could have profound implications for the politically contentious issue of federal judges, as well as a possible Supreme Court replacement in the next two years.
