At just 34 years old, Adam Ciongoli is one of John Ashcroft's most influential advisers. As legal counsel to the attorney general, Ciongoli helps develop the Justice Department's most critical and controversial initiatives, including the legislative package that became the USA Patriot Act. But beyond contributing to specific policy proposals, Ciongoli serves as Ashcroft's sounding board and sparring partner on nearly all legal matters.
