Top Justice Department antitrust officials on Jan. 30 said Yazaki Corp. will pay $470 million for the scheme, marking the second-largest criminal fine for an antitrust violation. DENSO Corp. agreed to pay $78 million. DOJ officials called the investigation the largest criminal probe the Justice Department antitrust division has ever pursued.

“The Antitrust Division and the FBI have worked hand in hand to root out and prosecute the pernicious cartel conduct we have uncovered in the automobile parts industry that has harmed car buyers and auto manufacturing businesses nationwide,” Acting Assistant Attorney General Sharis Pozen said in a statement.
