An article on CorpCounsel.com (“Prosecutors Are Getting In-House Lawyers’ Attention,” October 3, 2011) and other Law.com-affiliated websites erroneously stated that Steven Gremminger, formerly an Associate General Counsel and a Principal at KPMG LLP, was convicted in a tax shelter case involving KPMG LLP. The article should have stated that Gremminger was indicted in that case, along with 18 other persons. Mr. Gremminger was not convicted—we mistakenly printed that he was—but as the article correctly reports, the indictment was thrown out by United States District Judge Kaplan (SDNY). Mr. Gremminger was not convicted, and all charges against him were dropped.
We deeply regret the error and we apologize for it.
