A federal jury in Miami awarded (pdf) Carnival Corporation $24 million on Jan. 5 in a civil fraud suit against Rolls-Royce PLC.
The cruise line operator is one of several companies to take action against Rolls for problems with its Mermaid pod propulsion system. Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Celebrity Cruises, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, and Crystal Cruises have all filed similar actions against Rolls.
