Saying he wanted to “set the record straight,” John Muller, general counsel of PayPal, Inc., has denied that his company cut off donations to WikiLeaks due to pressure from the U.S. government. Muller explained the cut-off decision in an online statement posted late Wednesday on PayPal’s blog site.

His statement comes as an Icelandic data company and a German foundation are threatening to sue U.S. financial companies that refuse to process donations to WikiLeaks, the online publisher of leaked classified documents.
