After graduating from the University of Chicago Law School and spending the first few years of his legal career in the Chicago area, David Scharf left the Windy City in 2001 for St. Paul and an assistant general counsel position at Guidant Corporation . But in 2005, he was back on the shores of Lake Michigan at Baxter International Inc. , based in Deerfield, Ill. Scharf's return to the Second City has paid off. In early September he was promoted to vice president, general counsel, and corporate secretary of Baxter, a health care company.
