A House panel Tuesday issued a subpoena to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York for more documents related to payments made by American International Group, Inc., to other financial institutions during the 2008 financial crisis. These would be in addition to some thousand pages of documents received earlier from AIG as part of an ongoing investigation into the federal government’s use of bailout funds.

The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform had already asked Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and New York Fed general counsel Thomas Baxter, Jr., to appear before the panel this month and answer questions. Geithner was head of the New York Fed during the crisis, when AIG received $182 billion in bailout funds.
