The work of in-house public relations departments, like the work of in-house lawyers, can rise and ebb with the flow of litigation. It’s high tide this week at Chevron Corporation’s San Ramon, Calif., headquarters. And media advisor Kent Robertson, working closely with company execs and in-house lawyers, is riding the wave.

The seemingly endless lawsuit brought by plaintiffs in Ecuador, who claim that they were injured by oil pollution created by Texaco (which Chevron acquired in 2001), is supposed to be winding down. But not before a flurry of activity plays out in the national media.
