Laurie Gustafson has joined Sedgwick's San Francisco office as a partner in the real estate and finance practice. Gustafson's practice focuses on commercial real estate, including real property acquisitions and dispositions, leasing, financing, construction, development and management.
Gustafson earned her J.D. from UC-Davis School of Law in 1984.
Sean Shimamoto, a tax partner at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, has relocated his tax practice from the firm's Washington, D.C. office to its Palo Alto office. Shimamoto represents corporations and private equity funds on a wide range of U.S. federal income tax matters, including mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, spin-offs, restructurings, debt and equity offerings, and joint ventures. Shimamoto is a 1996 graduate of the University of Oregon School of Law.
Meyers Nave Riback Silver & Wilson added Eric Firstman as a partner in its Oakland office. With more than 30 years of experience in construction law, Firstman represents public entities and private companies in large, complex construction projects from project development and contract negotiation, to project administration, dispute resolution and complex trials. He is a 1983 graduate of UC-Hastings College of the Law.
Five associates have joined the Walnut Creek office of Archer Norris: Joseph Aguilar, Sabrina Axt, A. Barclay "Clay" Byrnes, Tiffany Gates and Lyndsey Moore.
Aguilar joins the firm's litigation practice. He received his J.D. from the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law in 2010.
Axt joins the firm's toxic tort practice. She received her J.D. from Willamette University College of Law in 2005.
Byrnes joins the firm's construction litigation practice. He received his J.D. from the New England School of Law in 2010.
Gates joins the appellate practice. She received her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, in 2011.
Moore joins the business and healthcare practices. She received her J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law in 2010.
Daniel Grunfeld has joined Morgan, Lewis & Bockius as a partner in the L.A. office and will serve as the leader of the firm's West Coast litigation practice. Most recently, Grunfeld was co-managing partner of the Los Angeles and Palo Alto offices and co-chair of the Los Angeles office litigation department of Kaye Scholer. He received a J.D. from Cornell University Law School in 1986.
Greg Bordo has become the administrative partner of Blank Rome LLP's Los Angeles office effective July 1, 2013. He is a partner in the firm's commercial litigation group. He is a 1991 graduate of Loyola Law School.
Michael Rule joined McKenna Long & Aldridge's Orange County office as a partner in its corporate practice. Rule regularly serves as lead transactions counsel and outside general counsel to both public and private companies. He is a 1990 graduate of Columbia Law School.
Ellis Wasson joined Rutan & Tucker in Orange County. Wasson, a partner in the firm's coroporate, securities and tax section, is a 1996 graduate of Western State University. He received an LL.M from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2001.
