Shiraz Tangri has joined Meyers Nave Riback Silver & Wilson's Los Angeles office as of counsel in the firm's land use and environmental practice group. Tangri, who was previously with Alston & Bird, focuses on complex, energy and infrastructure commercial and residential projects in Southern California. He received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1995.
Leventhal Law has added Joshua Heinlein as a partner. Formerly at Cooley, Heinlein has experience in complex business disputes, including those involving real estate, intellectual property, contracts, partnerships and tort actions. He graduated from Georgetown University Law Center in 2005.
D. Brian Reider has rejoined Best Best & Krieger's Ontario office as a partner in the business services practice group. Reider, who was with BB&K for 10 years before departing in early 2010 to serve as in-house counsel for Lexxiom Inc. in Rancho Cucamonga, will focus on helping private-sector clients with general business transactions and human resource needs. He is a 1976 graduate of Pacific McGeorge School of Law.
Los Angeles-based Safarian Choi Bolstad has added Jerome Jauffret as a partner. Jauffret, who was most recently with Mayer Brown, focuses on employment litigation and counseling, including wage-and-hour claims, discrimination, wrongful termination and breach of contract. He received his J.D. from Loyola Law School in 1991.
Bet Tzedek honored hundreds of attorneys and other professionals who volunteered with the legal services agency during the past year at its Volunteer Recognition dinner Tuesday.
Los Angeles Sidley Austin partner Andrew Dunbar and associate Thomas Powell received the Elyse S. Kline Justice Award for Pro Bono Attorney of the Year for their commitment to Bet Tzedek clients in a contested guardianship case. Dunbar, who focuses on the defense and litigation of enforcement actions by the Securities and Exchange Commission and related regulatory agencies, internal investigations, white-collar criminal defense and complex civil litigation, graduated from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1999. Powell, who is a member of the litigation group, earned his J.D. from UCLA School of Law in 2010.
McDermott, Will & Emery received the Elyse S. Kline Justice Award for Pro Bono Law Firm of the Year. The firm's Los Angeles office provided service on a broad range of legal issues, including securing nearly a quarter of a million dollars for four garment workers who labored in sweatshop conditions.
