SAN FRANCISCO

Nicole Dogwill, formerly with Winston & Strawn, has joined Shartsis Friese as a partner. Dogwill represents companies in complex and class action litigation involving breach of fiduciary duty, fraud and competition issues. She received her J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law in 1998.

Hanson Bridgett has added associates Matthew Stratton, Simron Gill and Jennifer Takehana. Gill and Takehana were previously summer associates at the firm.

Stratton, a member of the litigation section, was most recently with Harvey Siskind. He graduated from UC-Hastings law school in 2007.

Gill, a member of the labor and employment section, earned her J.D. from University of San Francisco School of Law in 2012.

Takehana, a member of the labor and employment section, is a 2012 graduate of UC-Hastings law school.

Matthew Hindman has joined Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton as an associate on the electronics and software team in the intellectual property department. Formerly with Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, he graduated from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2006.

Sideman & Bancroft has added Kimberly Lewellen, Andrew Muir and Juliana Williamson as associates. Lewellen and Williamson are members of the family law group, while Muir will focus on criminal and civil tax controversies, business crimes defense and enforcement of intellectual property rights.

Lewellen, who was previously with Downey Brand, is a 2005 graduate of Pacific McGeorge School of Law.

Williamson, most recently a law clerk for Allan & Martelle, earned her J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2012.

Muir graduated from Vermont Law School in 2012.

Terrance Evans, a partner at Duane Morris, has been named the new president of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers Leadership Development Committee. Evans, who focuses on representing the financial services industry, is a 2002 graduate of Loyola Law School.

Partner Bruce Furukawa and associate Daniel Edington, formerly with Severson & Werson, have rejoined Long & Levit as members of the design professionals and construction defense group. Furukawa graduated from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1991. Edington graduated from UC-Hastings law school in 2003.

SILICON VALLEY

Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr has promoted Kathryn Zalewski to special counsel. Zalewski, who is based in Palo Alto, is in the litigation/controversy department and is a member of the intellectual property litigation practice group. She received her J.D. from University of Michigan Law School in 1997.

San Jose personal injury firm Corsiglia, McMahon & Allard has added Lauren Cerri as an associate. Cerri previously worked at Tremont & Sheldon in Connecticut and is a 2008 graduate of University of Connecticut School of Law.

EAST BAY

Jason Flom has joined Oakland's Donahue Gallagher Woods as an associate. Flom, who focuses on civil litigation, graduated from UC-Hastings law school in 2012.

Miller Starr Regalia has added Giselle Roohparvar as associate in its Walnut Creek office. A member of the litigation department, Roohparvar was previously with Pircher, Nichols & Meeks. She earned her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 2008.

SACRAMENTO

Michael Middleton has joined Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo as a partner in the employment law and construction law practices. Middleton, most recently with Middleton, Young and Minney, is a 1992 graduate of Pacific McGeorge School of Law.

California state auditor Elaine Howle has selected Donna Neville as chief counsel for the auditor's office. Neville most recently served as associate chief counsel to the California state auditor and has more than 22 years experience as a public lawyer.

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

Fulwider Patton in Los Angeles has added Eric Kim as an associate. Kim focuses on patent prosecution and litigation with an emphasis on the technology sector. He graduated from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2011.

Lisalee (Lisel) Wells has joined Nixon Peabody as of counsel in the Los Angeles office. Wells, who was previously with Fulbright & Jaworski, is a member of the public finance practice. She earned her J.D. from Stanford Law School in 1975.

Encino's Horvitz & Levy has added Emily Cuatto as an associate. Cuatto, formerly with Bingham McCutchen, focuses on complex commercial litigation. She is a 2008 graduate of UCLA School of Law.

Ron Ball, the former city attorney of Carlsbad, has joined Best Best & Krieger's San Diego office as an of counsel. Ball, a member of the municipal law practice group, graduated from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1977.

Edgcomb Law Group has added two new partners, Nancy Wilms and Tiffany Hedgpeth. Wilms and Hedgpeth, formerly of Bingham McCutchen, will launch the opening of the firm's new Burbank office, its first in Southern California. Both lawyers focus on environmental litigation. Wilms received her J.D. from UC-Hastings law school in 1983. Hedgpeth graduated from UCLA School of Law in 1994.

Laura Burson has joined Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton as a partner in the intellectual property practice group. Burson, who is based in the Los Angeles office, was previously with Kirkland & Ellis. She is a 1999 graduate of Loyola Law School.

Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton has added Erwin Cena to the firm's San Diego office as an associate. Cena focuses on patent litigation and also has experience in commercial litigation, products liability and construction defect matters. He earned his J.D. from UC-Davis School of Law in 2010.

Farella Braun & Martel has elevated Deepak Gupta and Sarah Peterman to partner.

Gupta focuses on patent and copyright litigation. He earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2002.

Peterman focuses on environmental and natural resources litigation and counseling. She graduated from UC-Hastings law school in 2003.

Shook, Hardy & Bacon has promoted 10 attorneys to partner, including Lawrence Carter in Orange County and Matthew Vanis in San Francisco.

Carter, a member of the intellectual property practice, is a 2001 graduate of University of Virginia School of Law.

Vanis, a member of the global product liability practice, received his J.D. from Loyola Law School in 2000.

Shigenobu Itoh, David Lanferman, Epiphany Owen, Vijay Pai and Maria Stearns have been named partners at Costa Mesa-based Rutan & Tucker.

Itoh, a member of the corporate section, graduated from UC-Berkeley School of Law in 2005.

Lanferman, a member of the real estate, land use/natural resources and environmental law practice groups, is based in Palo Alto. He earned his J.D. from UC-Hastings law school in 1976.

Owen, a member of the government and regulatory law section, is a 2000 graduate of University of Southern California School of Law.

Pai, a member of the real estate section, graduated from Columbia Law School in 2005.

Stearns, a member of the employment and labor law department, received her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2002.

Hirschfeld Kraemer has elected Natasha Baker to the partnership in its San Francisco office. Baker advises higher-education institutions on labor, employment, student affairs and compliance issues. She graduated from University of Maine School of Law in 2003.

Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr has elevated William Kim and Michael Mugmon to partner in the firm's Palo Alto office.

Kim is a member of the intellectual property department. He is a 2006 graduate of Fordham University School of Law.

Mugmon is in the firm's litigation/controversy and securities departments and is a member of the securities litigation and enforcement practice group. He earned his J.D. from University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2002.

Horvitz & Levy in Encino has promoted Felix Shafir to partner. Shafir's practice includes commercial litigation, employment law and environmental litigation. He graduated from Northwestern University School of Law in 1999.

Early Sullivan Wright Gizer & McRae has named Sophia Lau to the partnership in Los Angeles. Lau, who focuses on commercial litigation, is a 2002 graduate of UC-Hastings.

Fish & Richardson in Redwood City has elevated Jonathan Lamberson to partner. Lamberson, who focuses on patent litigation, received his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2005.

Johnnie James, Kevin Bland, Robert Jones and Michael Nader have been named shareholders at Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart.

James, in Los Angeles, advises corporate clients on matters including wage-and-hour, employee handbooks, hiring and terminations, and noncompete agreements. He graduated from New York University School of Law in 1989.

Bland, in the Orange County office, focuses on safety, risk management, Cal-OSHA regulatory rulemaking and Cal/OSHA citation appeals. He is a 2000 graduate of Whittier College School of Law.

Jones, in San Francisco, is chair of the firm's California wage-and-hour practice group and co-chair of the national wage-and-hour practice group. He earned his J.D. from Pacific McGeorge School of Law in 1982.

Nader, in San Francisco, represents management in employment litigation before federal and state courts and administrative agencies. He graduated from Notre Dame Law School in 1997.

Anthony De Marco has been named an equity partner and David Soldani, Kevin Dale, Susan Steward and William Diedrich have become partners at Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo.

De Marco, in the Irvine office, represents California public school districts and public agencies in the areas of labor and employment law. He is a graduate of Whittier Law School

Soldani, in the Fresno office, advises public agencies statewide in the areas of election law, board governance, public works and construction, environmental law and real property transactions. He received his J.D. from San Joaquin College of Law.

Dale, in the Fresno office, advises public- and private-sector employers in all aspects of labor and employment law. He graduated from Loyola Law School.

Steward, in the Cerritos office, represents employers in both the private and public sector in all areas of labor and employment law. She earned her J.D. from Western State University College of Law.

Diedrich, in the Riverside office, represents school districts and other public agencies in labor and employment law. He is a graduate of Pacific McGeorge School of Law.

Kaufman Dolowich Voluck & Gonzo has elected Hsiao (Mark) Mao to the partnership. Mao, who is based in San Francisco, defends and litigates on behalf of financial institutions. He received his J.D. from UC-Berkeley School of Law in 2004.

Nielsen Merksamer has elevated Christopher Skinnell and Sean Welch to partner, effective Jan. 1. Darrin Lim has been promoted to partner, effective July 1.

Skinnell specializes in civil litigation in areas including elections, campaign finance and redistricting. He graduated from University of Chicago Law School.

Welch focuses on election, campaign and government law. He is a graduate of UC-Hastings law school.

Lim specializes in national compliance issues, advising clients on campaign, lobbying and ethics laws. He earned his J.D. from Pacific McGeorge School of Law.

Long & Levit has promoted John Sullivan to the partnership in its San Francisco office. Sullivan is a member of the firm's lawyers and judges defense group. He graduated from UC-Hastings law school in 2005.
