SAN FRANCISCO
Kari Erickson Levine has joined Jones Day as a partner. Levine, who was previously with Seyfarth Shaw, is a member of the labor and employment practice. She received her J.D. from UC-Hastings College of the Law in 1989.
Reed Smith has added Jonathan Doolittle as a counsel on the bankruptcy and creditors' rights team. Doolittle, formerly with Portland, Maine-based Verrill Dana, represents debtors and creditors in business bankruptcies, commercial restructurings, commercial litigation and other matters relating to insolvency. He graduated from University of Maine School of Law in 1993.
James McTarnaghan has joined Perkins Coie as a partner in the environment, energy and resources practice group. Most recently a partner at Duane Morris, McTarnaghan represents companies in the traditional energy, renewable energy and communications industries, as well as California-based municipalities and public agencies. He is a 1983 graduate of George Washington University Law School.
Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton has added James Chang as an associate on the medical and mechanical devices team in the intellectual property department. Chang, who was previously with Rothwell, Figg, Ernst & Manbeck in Washington, D.C., focuses on patent prosecution in the material science, mechanical engineering and medical device fields. He earned his J.D. from George Washington University Law School in 2009.
Timothy Halloran has been inducted as a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers. Halloran, a senior shareholder at Murphy Pearson Bradley & Feeney, focuses on legal, design professional and medical malpractice; copyright and trademark infringement; personal injury; business litigation; construction and consumer rights. He is a 1982 graduate of UC-Hastings College of the Law.
Attorney general Kamala Harris appointed Eric Casher to a four-year term on the Fair Political Practices Commission. Casher, an associate at Meyers Nave Riback Silver & Wilson, has expertise in various forms of complex litigation, including writs and appeals. He received his J.D. from UC-Hastings College of the Law in 2006.
EAST BAY
Janell Alberto has joined Livingston Law Firm in Walnut Creek as an associate. Previously with Foley & Mansfield, Alberto focuses on general civil litigation defense with an emphasis on products, general liability and commercial litigation matters. She graduated from Willamette University College of Law in 2005.
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton partner Kandace Patton Watson has been selected as a fellow of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity. Watson heads the mergers and acquisitions, securities and corporate team in San Diego and is co-chair of the life sciences and medical device group. She received her J.D. from University of Texas School of Law in 1997.
Caldarelli Hejmanowski & Page in San Diego has added Jack Leer as a partner. Leer, most recently at Seltzer Caplan McMahon Vitek, focuses on commercial and business litigation, including real estate and construction disputes. He is a 1996 graduate of University of San Diego School of Law.
John Harris has joined SNR Denton's Los Angeles office as a partner in the oil and gas practice and the firm's energy, transport and infrastructure sector team. Also joining the oil and gas team are associates Ernest Guadiana and Paul Williams. All three lawyers were previously with Meyers Nave Riback Silver & Wilson. Harris earned his J.D. from UC-Hastings College of the Law in 1980. Guadiana graduated from Emory University School of Law in 2009. Williams is a 2009 graduate of University of Calgary Faculty of Law.
Best Best & Krieger has added five first-year associates, all of whom graduated from law school last year and were summer interns at the firm in 2011.
Jennifer Kunz, who is based in Riverside, focuses on environmental, natural resources and land use law. She received her J.D. from UC-Hastings College of the Law.
Jeremiah Lee, who is based in Riverside, concentrates on mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, nonprofit law and business litigation. He graduated from Pepperdine University School of Law.
Thomas Rice, who is based in Ontario, is a member of the firm's municipal law practice group and provides transactional advice to cities, counties, water districts and joint powers authorities. He earned his J.D. from University of Illinois College of Law.
Richard Hyde, who is based in San Diego, focuses on real property litigation, title insurance litigation, commercial litigation, municipal and public entity representation, and civil code enforcement and litigation. He is a graduate of Brigham Young University's J. Reuben Clark Law School.
Marco Verdugo, who is based in San Diego, is in the special districts practice and focuses on water quality issues, eminent domain and election law for various public agency clients. He graduated from University of San Diego School of Law.
Claire Hall has joined DLA Pper 's finance and derivatives practices as of counsel in Los Angeles. Most recently with White & Case, Hall focuses on legal and regulatory matters affecting derivative transactions and the derivatives market. She received her LL.B from Liverpool University in 2001 and graduated from the College of Law in London in 2002.
William Briggs II has joined Venable's Los Angeles office as partner in the commercial litigation group where he focuses on entertainment law. Briggs, formerly of Lavely & Singer, graduated from Georgetown University Law Center in 1988.

Nahla Rajan has been elected to the partnership at Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp in Los Angeles. Rajan, who joined the firm in 2006, focuses on litigation and trusts and estates. She earned her J.D. from UC-Berkeley School of Law in 2001.
