SAN FRANCISCO
Richard Seabolt, a partner at Duane Morris, has been named the new president of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers' Northern California Chapter for a one-year term. Seabolt focuses on litigation, with a focus on complex trials and appeals arising from commercial disputes, including those involving technology, construction and insurance. He is a 1975 graduate of UC-Hastings law school.
Terrance Evans, also a partner at Duane Morris, has been named the new chair of ABTL's Leadership Development Committee. Evans, who focuses on representing the financial services industry, graduated in 2002 from Loyola Law School.
Geoffrey Etnire has joined Nossaman as a partner in the real estate practice group. Etnire, who was previously at Hoge, Fenton, Jones & Appel, will split his time between the firm's San Francisco and Washington, D.C., offices. He received his J.D. from Stanford Law School in 1973.

Ropers Majeski Kohn & Bentley has added Summer Smith as a partner and Tino Xuan Do and Blake Russum as associates to its Redwood City office.
Smith, most recently with Murphy, Pearson, Bradley & Feeney, is a member of the business and commercial litigation and professional liability practice. She graduated from Pacific McGeorge School of Law in 2000.
Do, formerly of Barger & Wolen, is a member of the firm's insurance services practice. He is a 2002 graduate of UC-Hastings law school.
Russum, previously with Morris Sullivan Lemkul and also a member of the insurance services practice, earned his J.D. from UC-Davis School of Law in 2008.
Ropers Majeski was selected by the San Mateo County Bar Association to receive its Diversity Award. The firm's contributions include encouraging and financially supporting memberships and leadership roles in minority bar associations and committees; sponsoring an annual holiday celebration for the elementary school students of St. Elizabeth Seton School of East Palo Alto; and creating and organizing industry events celebrating diversity, including a 2011 reception honoring African-American justices in California.

State controller John Chiang has appointed Gavin Wasserman to the Fair Political Practices Commission. His term will last through Jan. 31, 2017. Wasserman, the managing partner of Wasserman & Wasserman, graduated from University of Chicago Law School in 1999.

Michelman & Robinson has elected Ronald Camhi as managing partner of the firm's Los Angeles office. Camhi, who joined the firm in 2001, focuses on areas including advertising, marketing and media law, business and commercial real estate law. He is a 1991 graduate of Southwestern Law School.
Neil Rust has joined McGuireWoods in Los Angeles as a partner. Rust, who was previously at White & Case, is a member of the banking and finance group. He earned his J.D. from University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1987.
Alston & Bird has added Charles Cox as a partner in the Los Angeles office. Cox, formerly with Latham & Watkins, is a member of the litigation team. He graduated from University of Michigan Law School in 1992.
Tamara Devitt has joined Haynes and Boone as a partner in Irvine. Most recently at Fisher & Phillips, Devitt is a member of the labor and employment practice group. She is a 2000 graduate of DePaul University College of Law.
Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton has honored associate Paul Seeley with the firm's 2012 Bob Gerber Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award. Seeley, a 2007 graduate of UCLA School of Law, is based in the Los Angeles office and is a member of the business trial practice group.

Gordon & Rees has elevated Heather Irwin, Margie Lariviere and Kevin Whittaker to the partnership in the San Francisco office.
Irwin's practice includes disability accommodation, wage-and-hour claims and discrimination claims. She received her J.D. from UC-Hastings law school in 1999.
Lariviere represents insurers in state and federal court litigation. She graduated from UC-Hastings law school in 1994.
Whittaker focuses on labor and employment litigation in the retail, education and technology industries. He is a 2002 graduate of Syracuse University College of Law.
