Perkins Coie has promoted Diane Gorczyca to senior counsel. Gorczyca, a member of the product liability practice, graduated from Wayne State University Law School in 1995
Bullivant Houser Bailey of counsel Marilyn Raia and Norm Ronneberg have been awarded designation as certified specialists in admiralty and maritime law by The State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. Raia is a 1976 graduate of UC-Hastings law school. Ronneberg received his LL.M. in international maritime law in 1976 at University of Oslo Law Faculty, Norway, and his J.D. in 1975 at UC-Berkeley School of Law.
BraunHagey & Borden has added Richard Jackson as counsel and Alfredo Amoedo and Allyson Fair as first-year associates.
Jackson previously served as assistant solicitor general in the New York state attorney general's office. He graduated from Columbia Law School in 2001.
Amoedo previously served as a judicial extern for U.S. District Judge William Alsup of the Northern District of California. He is a 2012 graduate of UC-Hastings law school.
Fair previously served as a judicial extern for U.S. District Judge Roger Hunt of the District of Nevada. She received her J.D. from UC-Hastings law school in 2012.
Abigail Hipps has joined Silicon Legal Strategy as a senior associate. Hipps, formerly with Gunderson Dettmer Stough Villeneuve Franklin & Hachigian, focuses on startup formation, commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions and venture capital financings. She earned her J.D. from UC-Hastings law school in 2004.
The Eric C. Conn Law Firm will open a new office in San Francisco this summer. The firm, which advises clients on Social Security disability and SSI benefits issues, already has an office in Beverly Hills. The new office expansion will be led by Michael Yen.
SILICON VALLEY
Will Mosley has been named to the 2013 Board of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Silicon Valley. Mosley, an associate at Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton, is a member of the patent litigation team. He graduated from UC-Hastings law school in 2011.
Daphne Higgs, a member of Perkins Coie's technology transactions and privacy practice, has been promoted to senior counsel in the Palo Alto office. She received her J.D. from the University of British Columbia in 1998.
EAST BAY
Michael Kelleher has joined Cogent Legal in Oakland as a litigation consultant. Kelleher was formerly general counsel at DS-IQ and a partner at Folger, Levin & Kahn. He specializes in patent, trade secret, copyright, trademark and electronic discovery, and graduated from UC-Berkeley School of Law in 1992.
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
Winston & Strawn has added Michael Tomasulo to the firm's Los Angeles office as a partner. Most recently with Dickstein Shapiro, Tomasulo focuses on high-stakes intellectual property litigation and counseling. He is a 1994 graduate of University of Southern California School of Law.
Smith Dollar has added Michael Pfeifer as a partner in charge of the firm's office in Orange. Pfeifer's practice includes lender liability defense, financial fraud investigation and recovery, regulatory compliance and creditor representation in bankruptcy. He also currently serves as general counsel, a member of the board of directors, and the chair of the Quality Assurance Committee for the California Mortgage Bankers Association. He graduated from Cornell Law School in 1975.
One LLP, a Newport Beach firm that focuses on intellectual property and entertainment matters, added lawyers Mark Fleischer, George "Judd" Funk, Penelope Glass and Adam Rosen.
Fleischer, a partner, previously served as executive vice president of entertainment business development at MGM Studios. He received his J.D. from University of Southern California School of Law in 1984.
Funk, a partner, most recently served as senior executive vice president at New Line Cinema. He is a 1978 graduate of University of Utah College of Law.
Glass, an of counsel, was formerly principal at Penelope Glass, a PLC. She graduated from UCLA School of Law in 1979.
Rosen, a partner, was previously the founder and managing partner of Rosen Feig & Golland. He received his J.D. from UCLA School of Law in 1991.
McDermott Will & Emery has named Daniel Foster as partner in charge of the firm's Orange County office. Foster, a member of the intellectual property litigation practice group, is a 1995 graduate of University of Illinois College of Law.
The TCW Group, an international asset management firm, has appointed Meredith Jackson as executive vice president and general counsel. Jackson, most recently with Irell & Manella, graduated from UC-Hastings law school in 1988.

Berliner Cohen has elected Christian Picone to the partnership in its San Jose office. Picone focuses on securities, business litigation, real estate litigation and white-collar criminal defense. He is a 1993 graduate of Drake University Law School.
Duane Morris has elevated Meagen Leary and Laurie van Löben Sels to partner.
