SAN FRANCISCO

Judd Law Group has added Dakin Ferris as a partner. Ferris, who was previously in private practice, focuses on areas including software licensing, vendor/supplier contracts and trade secret protection. He graduated from UC-Hastings law school in 1988.

SILICON VALLEY

Stephen Penn has received the Henry Collada Award for his service to the Santa Clara County Family Court. Penn is a certified family law specialist who has been in private practice since 1991. He received his J.D. from Glendale College of Law in 1987.

Urmil Dave has joined Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton's Menlo Park office as an associate. Dave, who was previously at Murabito Hao & Barnes, is a member of the electronics and software team in the intellectual property department. He is a 2011 graduate of Santa Clara University School of Law.

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton has added Megan Gess as a partner in the corporate and securities practice group, Based in the Orange County office, Gess joins from O'Melveny & Myers. She earned her J.D. from Loyola Law School in 2001.

Kaye Scholer has elevated associate Joshua Stambaugh to counsel. Stambaugh, a member of the complex commercial litigation practice, is based in Los Angeles. He graduated from Pepperdine University School of Law in 2004.

Richard Whitlow has joined Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell as of counsel in the Irvine office. Whitlow, formerly of Jones Day, focuses on patent and trade secret litigation, patent prosecution and opinion work. He received his J.D. from Chapman University School of Law in 2003.

Hunton & Williams has added partner Colleen Doyle and counsel Diana Martin to the environmental law practice group. Formerly with Bingham McCutchen, Doyle and Martin are based in Los Angeles. Doyle graduated from Loyola Law School in 1985. Martin is a 1990 graduate of University of San Diego School of Law.

Aaron Arpi has joined Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton as an associate in the San Diego office. Arpi, a member of the electronics and software team in the intellectual property department, received his J.D. at Georgetown University Law Center in 2011.

Foley & Lardner has added Jose Patiño and Nicola Pisano as partners in the San Diego/Del Mar office. Both attorneys, who were previously at Jones Day, are members of the intellectual property litigation practice. Patiño graduated from Harvard Law School in 1990. Pisano is a 1989 graduate of Notre Dame Law School.

NEW PARTNERS

Kaye Scholer has elevated counsel Stephen Holmes to partner. Holmes, a member of the intellectual property practice, is based in Palo Alto. He received his LL.M. in 1994 from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Murphy, Pearson, Bradley & Feeney has promoted San Francisco attorney Jason Fellner to director. Fellner, who focuses on civil litigation, graduated from University of San Francisco School of Law in 2006.

Covington & Burling has elected 15 lawyers to its partnership, including Ingrid Rechtin and Winslow Taub in San Francisco and Christopher Eppich in San Diego.

Rechtin, a member of the corporate group, received her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2003.

Taub, who focuses on patent litigation and general commercial litigation, graduated from UC-Berkeley School of Law in 2004.

Eppich, a member of the intellectual property litigation group, is a 2003 graduate of Santa Clara University School of Law.

Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan has elected 10 new partners, including five in California.

Carl Anderson, based in San Francisco, focuses on intellectual property with an emphasis on patent litigation. He earned his J.D. from Stanford Law School in 2005.

Jeremy Andersen, based in Los Angeles, focuses on complex financial litigation. He is a 2003 graduate of Harvard Law School.

Linda Brewer, based in San Francisco, focuses on intellectual property litigation and complex commercial litigation. She graduated from Duke University School of Law in 2001.

Justin Griffin, based in Los Angeles, focuses on complex business litigation and intellectual property disputes. He received his J.D. from Stanford Law School in 2004.

Daniel Posner, based in Los Angeles, focuses on complex business litigation. He is a 2003 graduate of Georgetown University Law Center.

Dechert has promoted 12 attorneys to partner, including Joshua Hess in San Francisco. Hess, who focuses on white-collar and securities litigation and antitrust matters, graduated from Georgetown University Law Center in 2001.
