SAN FRANCISCO

Dean Fealk has been appointed outside general counsel to Washington, D.C., nonprofit Halifax International Security Forum. Fealk, a partner at DLA Piper, heads the firm's global equity practice. He received his J.D. from UC-Hastings law school in 2000.

The Bar Association of San Francisco Barristers' board of directors has honored David Reidy with its 2012 Barrister of the Year Award for his service on the Judges Reception Committee and Barristers' board. Reidy, a litigation partner at Reed Smith, is a member of the financial industry group. He graduated from UC-Hastings law school in 2002.

Partner Charles Thompson and senior counsel Nicole Bolson, who both previously practiced at Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith, have joined Seyfarth Shaw.

Thompson represents employers in matters including single-plaintiff litigation, wage-and-hour class actions and severe tort cases, and he has tried general, commercial and liability cases. He is a 1988 graduate of Golden Gate University School of Law.

Bolson's employment litigation practice includes discrimination, wrongful termination, retaliation, harassment, class action litigation and wage-and-hour claims. She earned her J.D. from University of Oregon School of Law in 2003.

NORTH BAY

Gaw Van Male, a firm in Napa that specializes in wealth preservation and business law, recently added Molly Garhart, Robyn Christo, Jeffrey Stephens, James Haskell, Gantry Griffin and Elizabeth Nuss to its team.

Garhart, a 1997 University of Chicago Law School graduate, is senior intellectual property counsel specializing in branding and trademark registration. She will continue to serve clients through her trademark prosecution boutique, Garhart Law, which she founded in November 2011.

Christo, previously with Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton, has a background in general civil litigation and is a member of the wealth preservation and litigation teams. She graduated from UC-Berkeley School of Law in 2008.

Formerly with Brinkman Portillo Ronk in Westlake Village, Stephens is a member of the wealth preservation and tax teams, specializing in high-end estate planning and trust administration. He is a 2009 graduate of UCLA School of Law.

Haskell, who most recently had his own practice, Law Office of James Haskell in San Diego, is a member of the wealth preservation, business and tax teams. He received his J.D. from California Western School of Law in 2009 and his LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center in 2010.

Griffin, a member of the wealth preservation team, graduated from Pacific McGeorge School of Law in 2011.

A recent graduate of Santa Clara University School of Law, Nuss is a member of the litigation team and previously served as a summer associate at the firm.

SILICON VALLEY/SOUTH BAY

Tracy Green was elected to the board of directors of the Bay Area Bankruptcy Forum for a three-year term that began on Nov. 27. Green, a partner at Oakland's Wendel, Rosen, Black & Dean, represents debtor, creditors' committee, creditor and trustee clients in all aspects of their dealings with financially troubled companies. She earned her J.D. from University of San Francisco School of Law in 1984.

McManis Faulkner in San Jose has added Jocelynn Maier to its family law group as an associate. Maier, who was previously with The Law Offices of Kathryn Schlepphorst, graduated from Golden Gate University School of Law in 2009.

The Bar Association of San Francisco Barristers' board of directors has honored Kimberly Taylor with its 2012 Barrister of the Year Award for her commitment and dedication to the Barristers Mock Trial Committee. Taylor, an associate at Carr, McClellan, Ingersoll, Thompson & Horn in Burlingame, specializes in trust, estate and probate litigation. She is a 2005 graduate of Cornell Law School.

NEW PARTNERS

Sedgwick has elevated Maria Cousineau, Alexander Potente, Dennis Raglin and Valerie Rojas to the firm's partnership, effective Jan. 1.

Cousineau, who is based in Los Angeles, focuses on complex insurance coverage matters and bad faith litigation. She earned her J.D. in 1984 from Southwestern Law School.

Potente, who is based in San Francisco, focuses on complex commercial insurance litigation matters. He graduated from Harvard Law School in 1997.

Raglin, who is based in San Francisco, focuses on product liability, complex litigation and Proposition 65. He is a 1995 graduate of UC-Davis School of Law.

Rojas, who is based in Los Angeles, focuses on investigating and litigating fidelity bond claims and directors and officers liability insurance claims. She received her J.D. from Southwestern Law School in 1995.
