SACRAMENTO — Attorney General Kamala Harris has sued four Southern California lawyers and their three law firms for allegedly taking millions of dollars from desperate homeowners and fraudulently promising them help with their troubled mortgages.

Philip Kramer of Calabasas, Christopher Van Son of Oak View, Mitchell J. Stein of Agoura Hills and Paul Petersen of Irvine are accused of working with mass marketers to lure thousands of homeowners into paying up to $10,000 each to join so-called mass joinder lawsuits against mortgage lenders.
