SAN FRANCISCO — San Diego County Judge DeAnn Salcido agreed to resign from the bench today to settle discipline charges brought against her after she taped courtroom proceedings in hopes of landing a “Judge Judy”-style TV show.

The Commission on Judicial Performance publicly censured Salcido in exchange for her resignation and agreement to never again seek or hold judicial office in California. In addition to the taping, Salcido was under fire for coarse remarks she made — both on-and off-camera — to litigants, court staff, a fellow judge and lawyers in her courtroom.
