The Fourth Appellate District reversed a judgment. The court held that a Los Angeles County’s practice of giving its superior court judges employment benefits in addition to the compensation prescribed by the legislature is impermissible because the constitutional requirement that the Legislature prescribe judges’ compensation is nondelegable.

The County of Los Angeles provided its superior court judges with employment benefits in addition to the salary prescribed by the Legislature, treating them as salaried employees of the county for purpose of benefits contributions.
