Following one of the shortest campaign speeches in recent memory, Los Angeles lawyer Sheldon Sloan was elected the next State Bar president on Saturday.
Relying on his record and his working relationship with fellow State Bar governors over the last three years, Sloan, 70, prevailed over Paul Hokokian, a lawyer with the Fresno County Department of Child Support Services, and Oakland Deputy City Attorney Demetrius Shelton.
