Choate Hall's Kathy Cloherty Henry
Choate, Hall & Stewart named insurance and reinsurance attorney Kathy Cloherty Henry as its first full-time hiring and pro bono partner.
Henry will also become co-chair of the firm's hiring committee and report directly to the firm's co-managing partners William Gelnaw and John Nadas in her new role.
In a joint statement, Gelnaw and Nadas said Choate Hall was looking at devoting more resources to those areas when Henry expressed interest in a full-time role managing the two areas.
In addition to extensive volunteering during her personal time, Henry's pro bono work while at Choate Hall includes work on the Political Asylum/Immigration Representation Project of Boston (PAIR) and the Family Law Project for battered women, which is run by the Women's Bar Foundation charitable arm of the Women's Bar Association of Massachusetts.
Henry said Choate's decision to dedicate a lawyer to the two roles signals to potential candidates that pro bono is important to the firm.
